CCISPay Text Giving Terms

What text giving is
Some churches that use CCISPay let you give by text. You text a word such as GIVE to your church's own texting number, and you get one text back with a secure link to that church's giving page. You give on that page, the same as you would from the church's website.
The texting number belongs to your church. CCIS runs the texting service on the church's behalf, and the reply you get starts with your church's name.
These CCISPay Text Giving Terms (the "Text Terms") apply to the text messaging service (the "Program") that CCIS Church Management Software, Inc. ("CCIS", "we", "us") operates as part of the CCISPay online giving service, on behalf of each church that offers it (the "Church"). Each Church's Program is identified by that Church's name, for example "[Church name] Text Giving", and messages are sent on the Church's behalf.
The Program replies to messages you send to the Church's texting number. A reply contains one of: a link to the Church's giving page; the Church's help contact; a short list of the Church's text giving keywords; or, while CCIS is still setting the Program up, a notice that a link is not ready. The Program sends nothing else.
How you join
You join only by texting. Nobody signs you up, and we never text a number that has not texted the church's number first.
Texting is never required. You can always give on the church's giving page instead, and texting is not a condition of giving, of belonging to a church, or of anything else.
Text from your own phone. If the mobile account is not yours, ask the person whose it is first.
You request a reply by sending a text message containing a keyword published by the Church (for example GIVE) to the Church's texting number. By sending that message you ask to receive a reply to it. The Program does not send a message to any mobile number that has not first sent a message to that Church's texting number.
Participation is optional. It is not a condition of making a donation, of membership in any Church, or of any purchase or service. You must be the account holder of the mobile number you text from, or have the account holder's permission.
How often we text
One reply per text you send. We never text you first.
There are no reminders, no receipts, no appeals and no advertising by text, and nothing repeats. If you want to give again, you text again.
STOP, START and HELP are answered automatically by the church's messaging provider, in wording we set up for the church. On a toll-free number your own carrier adds its own STOP confirmation on top of that, so those words can bring back more than one message.
Message frequency: one reply per text you send. The Program sends no recurring messages and no message you have not prompted. It does not send donation receipts, reminders, solicitations or marketing of any kind.
If you text a word that is not one of the Church's keywords, you may receive a short list of the Church's keywords, no more than once in any 24 hours. To protect you and the Church, the Program also limits the number of replies a single mobile number may receive in an hour, the number a Church may send in an hour, and the number the service may send across all churches in a day; a message received above those limits gets no reply.
The reserved words STOP, START and HELP are answered automatically by the Church's messaging provider, using wording CCIS configures for the Church. On a toll-free number your mobile carrier also inserts its own confirmation of a STOP, which cannot be switched off, so one of these words may produce more than one message. What it costs
Msg&data rates may apply. Your church and CCIS do not charge you anything for these texts, but your own mobile plan's normal charges for sending and receiving texts, and for the data used to open the giving link, still apply.
Message and data rates may apply. Neither CCIS nor the Church charges you for Program messages. Charges made by your mobile carrier for messages you send and receive, and for data used to open a giving link, are governed by your agreement with that carrier.
A text never takes money
No gift is made by text. Texting never charges a card, never sets an amount, and never commits you to give.
The link opens your church's secure giving page. There you choose whether to give, how much, to which fund, and how to pay — exactly as you would from the church's website. You can close the page and give nothing.
No donation is made, authorised or completed by text message, and no amount is set by any message you send. The Program does not accept an amount by text and ignores one if sent. A donation may be made only on the Church's secure giving page at give.ccispay.com, reached from the link in the reply, and is subject to the terms shown on that page and to the CCISPay Privacy Notice. Donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. Opening a link places you under no obligation to give.
Getting help
Text HELP (or INFO) to your church's texting number and you will get your church's contact details back — or ours, if your church has not given us one yet.
You can also contact your church directly. For a question about the texting service itself, write to textgiving@ccissoftware.com. For a question about a gift you have already made, your church is the right place to ask.
Text HELP or INFO to the Church's texting number to receive the Church's help contact. Where a Church has not supplied one, the reply gives textgiving@ccissoftware.com. You may also contact the Church directly, or CCIS at textgiving@ccissoftware.com. Enquiries concerning a particular donation should be directed to the Church, which holds the donation record.
Stopping the texts
Text STOP to your church's texting number at any time. You will get no further texts from that number from us, even if you text it again.
STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE and OPTOUT do the same thing. To start again, text START or UNSTOP to the same number.
We also treat a plain request such as "please stop texting me" as a STOP when we recognise it. If we are not sure, we send nothing back and record nothing — and because a STOP is never confirmed by us either way, silence does not mean it worked. The single word STOP is the only wording we can promise, so use that if you want to be certain.
A STOP applies to the one number you texted. If you also text another church's number, stop that one separately.
Opting out. To opt out, text STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE or OPTOUT to the Church's texting number. Your opt-out is recorded and the Program sends no further messages from that number to your mobile number. A request expressed in your own words, such as "please stop texting me", is recorded as an opt-out where the Program recognises it; recognition of any wording other than the reserved words above is not guaranteed, and the single word STOP is always effective.
Where the Program cannot be sure. Where a message reads like a request to be left alone but the Program does not recognise it as an opt-out — for example a reserved word late in a longer sentence, or wording such as "remove me" or "wrong number" — the Program sends no reply and records no opt-out. Because an opt-out is never confirmed by a message from the Program, the absence of a reply does not indicate that an opt-out has been recorded. The single word STOP is the only wording that is always recorded as an opt-out.
Confirmation. CCIS's own software sends no message in reply to an opt-out, an opt-in, or any message received after an opt-out. The Church's messaging provider answers the reserved words STOP, START and HELP automatically, using wording CCIS configures for the Church. On a toll-free number your mobile carrier also inserts its own confirmation of a STOP, which cannot be switched off by CCIS, by the Church or by the provider, so a STOP or a START may produce more than one message. Once you have opted out, a message you send to that number — including HELP — receives no automatic reply until you opt back in.
Opting back in. Text START or UNSTOP to the same number. On toll-free numbers, replying YES does not opt you back in.
Scope. An opt-out applies to the Church's texting number you texted. Churches are kept separate from one another, so opting out of one Church's number does not opt you out of another's; opt out of each number separately.
Asking us instead. If you ask the Church or CCIS to opt you out, we will ask you to text STOP to the Church's texting number, because the Program never sends a message to a mobile number that has not texted that number first, and records an opt-out only from a text.
Your phone and your carrier
Text giving works with United States mobile numbers. It does not work from a landline, and it may not work from every service that forwards texts.
Texts can be delayed or lost on the way. If nothing comes back, give through your church's website instead.
The Program is available only for United States mobile telephone numbers on participating carriers. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. CCIS does not guarantee that any message will be delivered, or delivered within any particular time.
Your information
We use your mobile number to reply to your text and to remember that you said STOP. We do not keep your full mobile number in CCISPay's records — only the last 4 digits and a scrambled code that lets us recognise your phone again.
We never share your mobile number, or the fact that you texted in, with anyone for their marketing. Twilio, the company that carries the messages, handles them for us and on our instructions.

Mobile telephone numbers and text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won't be shared with any third parties.
